Minimum salary is $1,397 per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement At this time, the College is not providing sponsor ships for Visas.
North Shore Community College is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach one or more courses in the Construction and Building Science program. The successful candidate will teach CBS
101 - Introduction to Sustainable Building and Construction Science and/or CBS
103 - Blueprint Reading for the Building Trades. This position supports student learning in construction fundamentals, building systems, sustainability, and technical communication for the building trades.
The adjunct instructor will provide instruction in a student-centered, inclusive, and career-focused learning environment. The ideal candidate will bring current or recent industry experience in construction, architecture, or a related field, along with the ability to connect classroom instruction to real-world building practices.
Essential Functions- Teach courses as assigned. Available courses could include: CBS
101 and CBS
103. - Prepare and deliver engaging classroom instruction aligned with course outcomes.
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and course records.
- Support student success through clear communication and professional conduct.
- Incorporate industry standards, sustainable practices, and blueprint interpretation skills into instruction.
- Use instructional technology and design software, including AutoCAD and Revit, when appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Building Technology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of industry experience in construction, architectural practice, or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction methods, blueprint reading, and/or building science principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment
- Teaching, tutoring, training, or workforce development experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Familiarity with sustainable building practices and green construction concepts.
- Experience in project-based, hands-on, or applied technical instruction.
