Job DescriptionSchool Psychologist – School Psychologist
- Elementary
The Elementary School Psychologist conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations across two elementary schools and collaborates with educators, families, administrators, and multidisciplinary Teams throughout the special education evaluation and eligibility process. The primary focus of the position is the timely completion of initial evaluations and reevaluations, interpretation of assessment data, written reports, and participation in the special education Team process.
Key Responsibilities:Evaluation and Assessment
- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations as part of initial evaluations, reevaluations, and other assessments determined necessary by the Team.
- Select, administer, score, and interpret cognitive, social-emotional, behavioral, executive functioning, adaptive, and other appropriate assessments.
- Conduct educational or academic assessments as appropriate based on student needs, professional qualifications, and district practices.
- Utilize multiple sources of data, including observations, interviews, record reviews, rating scales, standardized assessments, and school-based data.
- Complete clear, comprehensive evaluation reports within required federal, state, and district timelines.
- Utilize culturally and linguistically responsive assessment practices.
- Participate in initial evaluation, reevaluation, and other special education Team meetings as appropriate.
- Present and explain evaluation findings to families and Team members.
- Support evaluation planning, review and synthesis of assessment data, eligibility determination, documentation, and follow-up activities.
- Contribute assessment-based recommendations to support appropriate educational programming and IEP development.
- Collaborate with special education staff and other evaluators to ensure timely and compliant evaluation and Team processes.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families throughout the evaluation process.
- Consult with staff regarding referral questions, assessment needs, student data, and evaluation planning.
- Review relevant educational, developmental, behavioral, intervention, and progress-monitoring information.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration across both assigned elementary schools.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with district procedures and applicable state and federal requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based assessment practices, special education regulations, and professional standards.
- Participate in relevant school and district meetings and professional development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, consistent with professional qualifications, licensure, district needs, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
