Program Overview
The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is sponsoring the Urban Youth Collaborative program. This initiative provides students aged 18 to 24 the opportunity to enrich their lives and support individuals receiving services at the Hogan Regional Center
.
The Hogan Regional Center, located in Hathorne/Danvers, Massachusetts, offers 24‑hour residential supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The center provides daily services such as meal preparation, sensory activities, recreational programs, and community integration.
Program ScheduleThe program starts mid‑May and runs through Labor Day Weekend. The summer session is limited to a maximum 90‑day appointment and requires participants to be available for the entire summer, with no vacations. A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide personal care support and assist with daily living activities.
- Encourage interaction and help integrate individuals into the community.
- Accompany participants on community outings (e.g., concerts, training camps, aquariums, restaurants, libraries, coffee shops).
- Plan, set up, and lead activities at participants’ residences, such as music, movement, arts & crafts, cooking & baking, and social events.
- Ability to develop a respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationship with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Ability to assist with activities of daily living, including household maintenance, self‑care, hygiene, food shopping and preparation, budgeting, leisure and social skill development.
- Capability to assist or lift individuals with physical disabilities or limited mobility.
- Applicants must be between 18 and 24 years old.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Positions are available for the first and second shifts, with scheduled days off. All State employees are paid bi‑weekly through direct deposit. Current pay rate is $22.98 per hour.
Vaccination RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have received COVID‑19 and influenza vaccinations or meet the required mitigation measures.
