Independence Assistant

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. $21/hr.

Description

TILL provides essential support to adults with developmental disabilities, learning differences, acquired brain injury, and other specialized needs through a wide range of housing options—from structured, staffed, small group living to individualized support options. The Independence Coach (Assistant) offers one‑on‑one support to a male client to promote independence, daily living skills, and community engagement. This role involves both home‑based and community‑based support, including transportation and skill‑building activities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the individual with morning routines and preparation for work
  • Provide transportation to and from the TILL Farm
  • Act as a support for the individual and others during activities at the farm
  • Assist with errands, appointments, and community‑based activities
  • Support development of independent living skills, including organization and daily task management
  • Encourage growth toward living independently in an apartment setting
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment at all times
  • Implement appropriate safety care strategies as needed
Qualifications
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a 1:1 support setting
  • Experience working with individuals with behavioral needs
  • Good written and verbal skills to effectively communicate individual needs and objectives, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills
  • Dependable, patient, and community‑oriented mindset
