Location:

In-home and community-based environments in Danvers, MA

Schedule:

Flexible scheduling required; frequent evening and weekend availability needed

Target Salary:

$20-25 per hour

Job Summary

At Northeast Arc, our mission is to help people with disabilities become full participants in the community, choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize, and play. As a Life Coach (Agency with Choice) within our Family Services division, you will play a meaningful role in bringing that mission to life. Working one-on-one with individuals in community and home-based settings, you will provide personalized support designed to foster independence, build community connections, and help individuals work toward their personal goals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized supports to clients for the purpose of fostering community inclusion, community building, and independence
  • Assist clients with goal development, including long and short-term goals, and develop strategies for success
  • Participate in ISP/Life Plan/progress meetings to support the individual in goal selection
  • Create a schedule of appointments and meetings, as determined by the Life Plan/ISP and contract, that focus on the individual's outlined goals
  • Assist individuals to interpret and respond appropriately to social cues and other situations encountered in the community
  • Teach specific skills and behaviors, such as executive functioning skills and appropriate relational boundaries, in accordance with the goals, objectives, and strategies identified in the individual's plan
  • Submit weekly documentation to the program coordinator on goal progress and maintain a log of contact and outreach in progress notes
  • Provide mandated reporting consistent with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 119, Sections 51A-51G
Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree preferred
  • Experience: Five or more years of experience working with individuals with serious mental health issues and Autism, as well as a demonstrated working knowledge and background in developmental disabilities
  • Licensure: Preferred Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Counselor
  • Skills and Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills for working with participants, coworkers, and client families; desire to help those who struggle with social pragmatics develop and maintain social-emotional competence and confidence; strong problem-solving skills; ability to adhere to deadlines for reports and progress notes; ability to maintain the rules of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
  • Driving Requirements: Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle required for transporting individuals to goal-related community activities, where applicable
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for 80% of the workday and lift up to 40 pounds; ability to travel for work-related events
