Service Technician Position – Danvers, MA

Work Schedule:

M-F 8:00AM to 5:00PM.

The Service Technician is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong electro‑mechanical maintenance experience to work on a console that is directly responsible for critical patient monitoring. In this role, the Service Technician will provide preventative and corrective maintenance on Abiomed electro‑mechanical products received into the Danvers-based Service Depot, occasionally providing on‑site support to customers. The Technician will also provide basic telephone support to Abiomed’s customers and field‑based Sales, Marketing, and Clinical teams, and will assist Engineering/Quality SPR Teams with complaint follow‑up, investigation and closeout as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of electro‑mechanical life‑support consoles.
  • Maintain calibration standards as required for all test equipment used in the servicing process.
  • Provide internally‑based service to Abiomed’s pool of service loaners and marketing consoles.
  • Provide basic telephone support to Abiomed’s customers and field‑based Sales, Clinical, and Marketing teams.
  • Ensure an adequate level of service inventory is available to meet day‑to‑day service needs.
  • Provide rotating 24/7 on‑call service support coverage for customers and field teams.
  • Support manufacturing with testing and burn‑in of spare parts.
  • Assist Engineering with complaint follow‑up, including evaluation, testing, investigation and closeout.
  • Document neatly and accurately all services performed.
  • Communicate issues in a timely manner to manager and Admin team as required. Review service history for each console prior to servicing.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, following established SOPs, processes and procedures. Work as a team player, adapting and executing on individual and team goals.
Required Qualifications
  • AS/BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred or equivalent experience. Valid US Driver’s license required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 70 lbs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically (up to 10% of the time).
  • Detail‑oriented and focused on quality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal SOPs, and document work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience servicing and supporting electro‑mechanical devices or consoles, or scientific instruments.
  • Medical device experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with general regulatory guidelines as they pertain to servicing medical devices; manufacturing experience.
