This position is part of Fresenius Kidney Care’s Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) and is an entry‑level Registered Nurse role focused on outpatient hemodialysis care.
Purpose and ScopeAs an Outpatient RN CAP 1, you will provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. You will be responsible for delegating appropriate tasks to direct patient care staff and participate in decision‑making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient outcomes and facility operations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Perform essential nursing functions under the direction of the Supervisor and guidance from the Clinical Educator or Preceptor.
- Collect and analyze patient data pre‑, during, and post‑hemodialysis, document it in the medical record, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Assess and address patient and family learning needs, providing education and documentation of progress.
- Direct and collaborate with staff to deliver safe and effective hemodialysis therapy.
- Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithm, documenting justification and effectiveness.
- Respond to emergencies and serve as a resource to the health care team.
- Participate in staff training and orientation of new staff.
- Ensure correct laboratory procedures and reschedule missed or insufficient collections.
- Update nursing assessments and plans of care in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Inform patients about transplant and treatment modality options.
- Complete CAP requirements to advance within the program.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
The role requires direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation. You must be able to stand for prolonged periods, bend, and lift equipment up to 200lb. The work environment is a health‑care facility with controlled air temperature and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious materials and occasional travel to training sites may occur.
Supervision- Lead Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, LVNs, and RNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge after meeting education and experience requirements.
- Requirements include a minimum of 9months as an RN and 3months in chronic/acute hemodialysis.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current state licensure.
- CPR BLS certification (current or successful completion).
- Meet state practice requirements where employed.
- Entry‑level RN with less than 2years of nephrology nursing experience.
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience is preferred.
Hourly rate: $39–$56, depending on location and qualifications. Benefit highlights include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and parental leave.
