The mission of the Product Development group is to apply rigorous scientific methods to design, develop, validate and commercialize antibodies, assays, and other reagents that solve unmet needs in basic and translational biomedical research. The Product Development organization’s goal is to provide customers with innovative, industry‑leading solutions that accelerate their research, ultimately leading to enhanced biological understanding, and improved human health.
The Director, Immunology Product Development leads a team of scientists and is responsible for building a globally competitive reagents and assays portfolio in Immunology serving both academic and biopharma customer segments. They are recognized by internal and external stakeholders as an established domain expert in immunology, and will apply their expertise towards the refinement of company strategic objectives, while ensuring portfolio content developed by their team is consistent with the company’s mission and goals.
They actively maintain an up-to-date understanding of the broader trends in basic and translational immunology, and advancements in assay technologies, and are able to effectively communicate these to relevant stakeholders. In partnership with sales and marketing colleagues serving academic and biopharma customers, the Director’s team will drive development of new product and/or product concept suggestions and identify new areas of strategic opportunity based on their advanced domain and market expertise.
They will engage extensively with internal and external stakeholders, leveraging their broad network to support continued portfolio and business expansion in alignment with company strategic initiatives.
Additionally, the Director will have access to laboratory resources enabling them to contribute to internal immunology‑related research efforts. This may include contributions to hypothesis generation, experimental design, and data interpretation, while providing guidance to bench scientists producing data intended for publication in peer‑reviewed scientific journals.
Essential duties and responsibilities (with ESTIMATED percentage allocation)Portfolio / Product Development (55%)
- Drive innovative portfolio content development in the immunology research space, tailored to the needs of academic and translational (biopharma) customers.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and strategic marketing to define portfolio scope and objectives.
- Provide colleagues & management with portfolio updates, including progress-to-goals.
- Proactively engage with colleagues within and outside Product Development to ensure clarity and cross-functional alignment of activities and objectives.
- Advocate for commercial support for portfolio content.
- Contribute to the generation of marketing content.
- Develop and build trusted relationships with academic and biopharma industry leaders to advance CST’s market leadership position.
- Generate novel scientific hypotheses and design comprehensive experimental strategies to test them, independently or in collaboration with external stakeholders.
