Retail & Store Manager
Nouria Energy Corporation is a multi-generational family-owned wholesale fuel distributor, convenience store operator and car wash operator in New England. The management trainee’s primary responsibility is to participate in training experiences, learn new skills, and demonstrate increasing proficiency and expertise with managerial responsibilities. The management trainee program will prepare the trainee for decisions and actions in people, operations, and merchandising management when assuming the role of store manager.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities- Assists Store Manager in all aspects of daily shift management, including customer relations, inventory control, procedural tasks and paperwork, and visual merchandising.
- Maintains individual and shift sales.
- Provides daily shift floor coverage.
- Trains Sales Associates.
- Supervises POS.
- Provides security and loss prevention.
- Maintains company standards for personal and store sales/performance metrics.
- Stocks shelves and refrigerated coolers.
- Assists manager in minimizing cash loss and inventory shrinkage.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws within the convenience/food store operation.
- Shadows manager in day‑to‑day operations.
- Delivers outstanding customer experience, greets customers with a smile, suggests purchases, promotes specials, and assumes full responsibility for Nouria’s customer service program at the site level.
- Minimizes safety risks to employees, customers, and suppliers; trains employees on safety policies; verifies compliance; enforces environmental and hazardous material regulations; maintains safety and security; documents accidents; manages customer environment; operates equipment safely; supports safety program; reports and investigates workplace incidents; conducts new employee safety orientation; inspects stores for hazards; initiates corrective action; encourages reporting unsafe practices; promotes quick return to work.
- 1 year of supervisory experience in convenience store, retail, fast food, or restaurant operations.
- Ability to effectively perform in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Self‑motivated, resourceful, creative, organized.
- Outgoing personality and approachable demeanor.
- Effective communication with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to provide any level of coverage if needed, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Ability to bend down, stoop low, and stand for at least 8 hours.
- Ability to lift, pull, and/or push up to 30 lbs.
- Successful completion of certification testing as needed.
- Understanding of customer service and commitment to delivering superior customer experiences.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ensures physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of all store facilities.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Can lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Can traverse and access all areas of the store.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods standing and working at a cash register.
