Retail Sales Manager (Assistant Store Manager)

Salary range: $48,750 - $70,000. During the initial job training period, the position will be non‑exempt hourly with pay range $19.74 to $28.34 (based on a 45‑hour work week).

Store Performance

• Ensure store performance meets financial targets and key metrics.
• Monitor and set the pace of work.
• Analyze key metrics and take action.
• Inspect sales floor for merchandising standards.
• Lead generation of new Super Savers Club membership.
• Prioritize and direct team member activity.

Leadership and Development

• Lead, direct, and supervise supervisors and retail sales floor team.
• Plan staffing needs and coordinate recruitment, selection, and training.
• Train, coach, counsel supervisors and team members; provide recognition and feedback.
• Identify and develop high‑potential team members.
• Maintain a respectful, values‑driven workplace.
• Act as Store Manager in absence of the Store Manager.

Retail and CDC Operations

• Schedule supervisors and team members to meet customer/donor demand.
• Assess sales floor and donor areas; direct team activity to meet standards.
• Inform team of operating plan targets.
• Monitor sales, items sold, and labor hours to ensure efficiency.
• Take action on sub‑standard departments or categories.
• Adjust space-to-sales using Cat Max tool.
• Handle customer questions, returns, exchanges.
• Leverage Voice of Customer Program to improve satisfaction.
• Train and coach customer service expectations.
• Engage customer for feedback.
• Implement sales and marketing promotions.

Safety, Loss Prevention & Cash/Tender Control

• Maintain a safe work environment; support JHSC.
• Partner with Store Manager on safety issues.
• Protect company assets and information.
• Manage cash and tender controls; perform morning accounting and banking procedures.
• Promote loss prevention awareness.

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

• Common sense application of instructions.
• Reasoning, decision‑making, independent judgment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• High School diploma; post‑secondary degree or diploma preferred.
• Experience in sales floor supervisor, cashier supervisor, customer service management, or retail management.
• Experience in Savers production environment (sorting/grading/pricing) preferred.

• Lift and carry products up to 50 lbs.; push/pull racks up to 250 lbs.
• Reach and handle merchandise; perform hand‑eye tasks.
• Stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist; kneel as needed.
• Read documents and labels.
• Communicate verbally; use intercom/telephone.
• Exposure to machinery, solvents, radiation, dust, temperature fluctuations.
• Navigate industrial equipment, heavy equipment, uneven surfaces, heights, forklifts.
• Drive to bank or meetings periodically.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
