Job Summary
The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day tactical operations of Townsend Energy’s vehicle fleet, ensuring that all company vehicles and related equipment are properly maintained, safe, and compliant. This role manages scheduling, dispatching, maintenance coordination, inspections, and repair processes to maximize fleet uptime, control costs, and support the operational needs of our fuel delivery, propane, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical divisions.
Measurementsof Success Fleet Operations & Coordination
- Oversee daily fleet operations, ensuring vehicles are available, safe, and operational to meet service and delivery requirements.
- Schedule preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and repairs in coordination with internal and external service providers.
- Manage work orders, track repair status, and follow up to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate vehicle assignments across departments based on operational priorities.
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with DOT, OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, registrations, licenses, permits, and certifications.
- Monitor Samsara and other telematics systems for safe driving performance and address violations through coaching and corrective action.
- Partner with the Safety Department to enforce fleet safety policies, including cellphone usage, accident reporting, and vehicle care.
- Track and report on key fleet metrics, including downtime, maintenance costs, fuel usage, and safety incidents.
- Collaborate with the Fleet & Facilities Manager to develop and implement strategies for improving fleet efficiency and reducing costs.
- Maintain an up-to-date asset inventory and assist in planning fleet replacements and acquisitions.
- Serve as the primary contact for fleet service vendors, negotiating pricing, and service agreements, when required.
- Verify invoices for accuracy and approval within delegated authority.
- Manage relationships with fuel card providers, leasing companies, and equipment suppliers.
- Directly supervise fleet maintenance personnel, yard staff, and other assigned employees.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to ensure adherence to company standards and best practices.
- Support the Fleet & Facilities Manager in fostering a safety-first, service-driven culture.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical or vocational training in automotive or equipment maintenance is required.
- At least two years of experience in fleet maintenance or automotive repair required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to perform well in a demanding environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.
- Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
