This part-time position will be an integral part of a small, dynamic team. As a key driver at Teen Esteem, the Director of Community Outreach & Development will work closely with the Executive Director on fundraising strategy, planning and execution, donor development, corporate sponsorship procurement, annual appeal initiatives and fundraising events. The Director will report to the Executive Director and will spearhead community outreach by educating and communicating the impact of Teen Esteem throughout the Tri-Valley;
gaining both champions for our cause and financial support to sustain and grow our programs.
The highly-relational Director will think strategically and act tactically in areas of stewardship of existing donors, cultivation and solicitation of new donors and businesses, digital communications, ongoing and targeted fundraising campaigns and community relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- I. Revenue Generation
- Develop and execute a strategic annual fundraising plan.
- Research, analyze, plan, and evaluate comprehensive fundraising programs to meet the operational and capital needs of Teen Esteem, both short-term and long-term.
- Create content and promotional materials needed for fundraising events and appeals, sponsorship programs and donation acknowledgements.
- Manage the donor database ensuring information is up to date, accurate and acknowledgements are sent in a timely manner.
- Raise funds consistent with the current budget and in line with the TE's multi-year vision.
- II. Relationship Building
- Identify and cultivate prospective individuals and businesses for engagement, forging a relationship to understand their goals and priorities. Seek out champions for Teen Esteem.
- Engage regularly in face-to-face contact with key donors and organizations.
- Keep donors feeling connected, updated and valued as true partners.
- Communicate vision, program strategies and accomplishments with stakeholders.
- Grow the donor base annually by discovering and developing new major donor partnerships through intentional networking and research.
- III. Stewardship – donors, corporate businesses and local organizations
- Provide customized reports annually showing the impact of donors’ giving and why it matters. Adjust according to stakeholders’ preferred mode and frequency.
- Coordinate logistics and database management with staff assigned to various development activities.
- Collaborate with Grant Writer who solicits from foundations and governmental entities.
- IV. Event Planning
- Work with Executive Director to develop annual event theme, secure venue, coordinate logistics, menu selections and entertainment.
- Assist in the design and layout of invitations, promo materials and event program.
- Work with the Board of Directors to procure auction items for live and/or silent auctions.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers involved in fundraising activities.
- Experience creating and implementing fundraising events.
- Knowledge of fundraising/revenue-generating principles and methodologies.
- Working knowledge or ability to learn software platforms and donor databases (Blackbaud/eTapestry, Pay Bee), Microsoft Office, Egnyte, Trello, Slack, Google and Zoom.
- Marketing experience helpful.
- Passion for Teen Esteem’s mission, vision and local community.
- Possess a high relational/emotional intelligence and honor donor confidentiality.
- Ability to work as a team member building trust and credibility.
- Strong public speaker with excellent written communication skills.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and flexibility to adapt to change.
- Hybrid – work environment; ideally five partial days each week during academic school year and four partial days each week over summer break.
- Part-time exempt employee status.
- Flexible hours: evenings and weekends will be required on rare occasions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a California non-commercial Class driver’s license.
- Must reside in the East Bay Area.
- Determined by experience: base salary plus bonus potential.
