Job Summary
The Superintendent oversees daily site construction activities, manages field personnel, and ensures project completion within schedule and budget while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Supervisors report to the project site five days a week and must live within proximity of the project location or surrounding areas. Flexibility to relocate across the U.S. after the initial assignment is required.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and supervise all day‑to‑day field operations.
- Communicate and coordinate with project team members to maintain schedule, safety, budget, and quality control.
- Plan and organize work to align with contract documents.
- Maintain knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
- Conduct on‑site meetings with subcontractors, owners, and trades.
- Schedule and monitor field productivity.
- Provide mentorship and training to the project team.
- Supervise project start‑up, completion, and close‑out processes.
- Maintain documentation: change‑order logs, RFI logs, and submittal logs.
- Manage contractual issues and customer relationships.
- Forecast costs accurately for job completion.
- Ensure timely and safe project completion adhering to contracts and budgets.
- Coordinate with the Safety Manager to meet safety goals.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 10–20 years experience with a general contracting company.
- Open to traveling throughout the U.S.
- Thorough understanding of construction materials, methods, and building systems.
- Experience managing projects $20 MM+ and in federal sector projects.
- Experience in healthcare projects and managing change orders, writing contracts, and building schedules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
- Ability to develop and manage RFIs, potential change orders, total project schedules, 3‑week look‑ahead, and other documents.
- Ability to manage subcontractors in a hard‑bid capacity, understanding subcontractor contract scope.
- Clear communication skills with home office, owners, subcontractors, and owner meetings.
- Availability for any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as hospital construction occurs at all hours.
- Experience with Davis‑Bacon/Prevailing wage or union‑required projects.
- Clearance to pass background investigation and drug test.
- Desire to stay and grow with a mentoring, training‑focused organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or an engineering discipline.
- Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Knowledge of EM 385 and CQMC.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
