School Counselor, Special Needs / Learning Disabilities
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a dedicated School Psychologist for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. This contract, full‑time opportunity (35 hours per week) runs from mid‑August through early June and offers the chance to support either a junior high (7th8th grade) or an elementary (K4) caseload. Qualifications- Licensure and credentials in School Psychology, with knowledge of Illinois educational regulations.
- Experience navigating special education guidelines under IDEA and ensuring compliance with state rules.
- Familiarity with the MTSS process, special education evaluation timelines, and effective progress monitoring.
- Proficiency in managing Manifestation Determinations, and scheduling and facilitating domain meetings, Evaluation/Eligibility Determination Conferences (EDCs), and Annual Reviews (ARs) efficiently.
- Strong working knowledge of IEPs, 504 Plans, Data Sheets, and the MTSS framework.
- Comfort using assessment systems such as Q-global and Fast Bridge, as well as digital tools like Google Docs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families.
- Evaluate students and support development of educational and behavioral plans.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate meetings, progress tracking, and interventions.
- Ensure timely completion of assessments, reports, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Advocate for student needs and provide consultation to educators and families.
