Biology Instructor

Position Overview

The instructor (faculty member) will provide instruction in the appropriate field and maintain designated office hours. Additionally, the instructor will assist with developing curriculum, syllabus, and provide instructional materials and personal insight to give students the most optimum opportunity to learn the course of study.

• Develop and implement a course of study and daily lesson plans.
• Recommend budgetary revisions, selection of teaching materials, curriculum revisions, textbooks and supplies to the Division Dean.
• Keep abreast of the latest theories of learning through training, staff meetings, conferences, and conventions approved by the College.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm in teaching performance and high expectations for all students.
• Utilize the materials of the Learning Resources Center in teaching assignments.
• Implement teaching activities utilizing the approved course of study as a guide, incorporating a diversity of teaching techniques, procedures, and resources to increase the mental, social, and physical growth of students.
• Develop and implement evaluation and assessment techniques that are appropriate and timely for each class.
• Demonstrate respect for diverse student populations through humaneness and dedication to the profession.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the latest technology and a willingness to incorporate it in the classroom.
• Effectively communicate with students, colleagues, and deans.
• Promote the College by participating internally on campus activities and committees and externally in community service.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills applicable to the discipline’s real‑world application in the workplace.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Master’s Degree in biology or a related field.
• In‑depth knowledge of the subject matter to be taught.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching.
• Experience in Anatomy or Microbiology, not general biology.

• College‑level teaching experience.
• Previous experience with retention of at‑risk students.
• Previous experience/training in non‑traditional teaching techniques.
• Demonstrated participation in committees and institutional building activities.

• Weeks:
  Full‑Time / Part‑Time.
• Salary: $53,861.
