The Lab Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring product quality, managing lab gauge part flow, handling changeovers and troubleshooting lab equipment, and training others as needed. They communicate inspection results to Production and have the authority to stop a process that is not producing good parts. They work in a team environment to maximize production efficiencies and produce a zero-defect, high-quality product.

This role requires a strong commitment to safety and quality and involves hands-on work with state-of-the-art equipment in a clean, professional environment.

• Education: High school diploma or GED. One year or more manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to perform basic arithmetic and understand measurements. Proficiency with the metric system and basic problem-solving skills.
• Language: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and present information clearly.
• Technology: Knowledge of SAP Integrated Business Software and Maximo work order software. Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Travel: Not required.

• Maintain a safe working environment and promote safety by following policies, reporting hazards, wearing PPE, and encouraging others.
• Authority to stop processes to correct quality, safety, or environmental issues and to notify supervisory personnel when processes are noncompliant.
• Support production metrics across safety, sustainability, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Share knowledge and train other employees to foster a learning culture.
• Cross-train to support production demands; assist with line checks and quality status communication.
• Perform gauge inspections, ensure parts meet customer specifications, and return nonconforming parts to the line as needed.
• Conduct visual inspections and approve lines operating with high-quality parts.
• Complete control plan inspections and notify relevant operators or supervisors when issues arise; take corrective action, including line stoppage if required.
• Maintain quality standards and operate gauge equipment efficiently.
• May perform additional duties on the shop floor, including machine operation, troubleshooting, loading/unloading, sorting, and inspecting.
• Relieve team members for breaks and certify colleagues seeking qualification on the Lab Machine Operator role.
• Assist other operators and maintain self-direction to complete work in leadership absence.
• Complete gauge start-ups, changeovers, gauge tooling cleanliness, and gauge PM activities.
• Complete advanced SAP transactions and recover gauge machine faults.
• Seek additional duties during downtime and complete all departmental documentation by shift end.
• Support Operational Excellence programs with continuous improvement ideas and maintain 6S standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
