About the Facility – The Danville VAMC This hospital provides primary care and specialty health services, including mental health care, women's health services, treatment for PTSD, podiatry, optometry, ophthalmology, cataract surgery, orthopedics, palliative and hospice care, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychology, rehabilitation and extended care, surgery, and urology. Position OverviewThe Community Living Center (CLC) RN will serve as a staff nurse and will evaluate clinical practice and initiate change based on current concepts and findings from research and/or evidence based studies.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Performing diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures appropriate to CLC's practice setting;
- Providing leadership in interpreting, supporting and implementing Medical Center and Nursing Department philosophy, policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and quality improvement processes;
Accepting responsibility and maintaining accountability for actions and continued professional and personal growth; - Serving as a consultant in clinical practice;
- Communicating and working effectively with others;
- Initiating and leading groups of personnel and interdisciplinary groups;
- Establishing relationships with professional and/or health related groups with the community.
We seek RNs who possess:
- Good organizational skills which enable completion of work;
- An ability to assume leadership duties;
- Ability to establish effective communication with residents, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
The RN should have a working understanding of cultural transformation, creating a home-like environment, a dedication to improving the quality of life for the residents and provide physical, mental, emotional and spiritual support and medical care for residents and/or significant others during the time surrounding death.
Qualifications Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. - Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
- 1-2 years of nursing experience
