Diesel Technician​/Mechanic III - Entry Level

Pay: $22.75/hr plus shift differentials of $2.50/hr for 2nd shift and $3.50/hr for 3rd shift.

Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best-maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry, helping customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Performing preventative maintenance repairs such as tire replacement or rotation, component lubrication, replacement, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles.
• Partnering with your manager to learn new skills via Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching.
• Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by a supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1‑2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to solve problems and comfortable using tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understanding and compliance with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, and other information established by Penske management.
• Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies, including appropriate tool use, PPE, machine guarding, and best safety practices.
• Regular, predictable full attendance (essential).
• Required DOT qualifications: current driver qualification file maintained, annual MVR check, completed DOT physical, safety performance history, drug screening for CDL holders.
• Willingness to work required schedule, location, complete Penske employment application, background screening (criminal checks, past employment, education), pass drug screen and physical, and travel for training.

• Frequent movement; standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods.
• Routine use of hands for grasping, reaching, touching, handling, feeling, and operating tools or controls.
• Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Sight and hearing sufficient to navigate workplace with frequent truck movement.
• Regular lifting/moving of up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs (45 kg); ability to push/pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs.
