Overview

The CRIS APS Caseworker is responsible for investigating reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation in Vermilion County involving adults with disabilities 18 and older and adults 60+ in accordance with the Illinois Adult Protective Services Act. The caseworker will assist individuals who may be in need of services through communication with family members, physicians, hospital staff, law enforcement, the State’s Attorney’s office and the judicial system.

The caseworker will be responsible for assessment of potential clients to determine need for services and will provide resources and referrals.

Qualifications
  • Driver’s License – Illinois Secretary of State (ILSOS/SOS)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • College Diploma in Nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work
  • Work Experience in healthcare related field
Responsibilities

Complete assessments of potential clients to determine need for services. Create an intake, case notes and case plan based on individual needs. Maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation on all client activities and services provided, through intake forms, case plans and case notes. Make appropriate referrals to other agencies and to programs administered by CRIS to meet the needs of clients.

Must have dependable transportation and be able to travel to and access client’s homes, including stairs, ramps, fences, and standing for extended periods. Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with older populations (60+) and disabled individuals (18-59), as well as program employees, community organizations, professionals, and community members; must be able to communicate face to face and on the telephone.

Organize and prioritize caseload to meet the standards set by the Adult Protective Services Act. Advocate and support clients based on individual needs. Perform face-to-face assessments of alleged victims and alleged abusers; determine victim/caregiver needs and provide appropriate intervention services; advocate for client protection and, if necessary, petition the court. Provide follow-up contact and outreach services to keep clients engaged in society and prevent reclusiveness and depression.

Maintain a working network of the client’s physician, family members, the Judicial System, State’s Attorney’s Office, women’s shelters, sexual assault advocates, law enforcement, attorneys, etc. Stay familiar with community services, resources and programs to assist clients. Provide information, support and assistance with Orders of Protection. Work closely with other CRIS staff to accomplish program and agency goals through community education, services and joint program activities.

Complete monthly and quarterly reports as required by grants. Seek and identify persons aged 60+ and adults 18-59 with disabilities in Vermilion County who may need services through communication with law enforcement, State’s Attorney’s office and the judicial system. Serve as a mandated reporter and ensure intakes are completed for all suspected abuse, neglect, financial exploitation and self-neglect when the victim cannot self-report.

Prepare intakes and review case files accurately and timely.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $22.40 per hour – $37.41 per hour. The actual compensation will depend on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package.
