SUMMARY

The Juvenile Justice Clinician provides individualized, trauma-informed therapeutic services to justice-involved youth. The clinician collaborates with partners across the juvenile justice system to deliver interventions that build emotional regulation, accountability, and long‑term stability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following, and other duties may be assigned as needed.

Daily

Job Duties:
  • Deliver one‑on‑one therapeutic support to justice‑involved youth using evidence‑informed, trauma‑responsive approaches.
  • Conduct assessments to identify risks, strengths, and service needs using tools such as the YASI.
  • Develop individualized case plans incorporating SMART goals and tailored interventions.
  • Provide clinical case management and coordinate referrals to mental health, substance use, educational, and community‑based services.
  • Participate in multi‑disciplinary case reviews, probation check‑ins, and re‑entry planning meetings.
  • Monitor case progress and adjust interventions based on youth responsiveness and evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with the Juvenile Justice Liaison and Group & Community Specialist to align individual and group services for each youth.
  • Provide documentation and outcome reporting in compliance with CCBYS and IDHS standards.
  • Support family‑focused services, including participation in caregiver support and reintegration planning.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, peer case reviews, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain compliance with confidentiality, mandated reporting laws, and licensing requirements.
  • Uphold trauma‑informed principles and the 7 Essential Ingredients in all youth and family interactions.
Training Requirements:
  • Complete all Core Curriculum training(s) required for the position.
  • Comply with IDHS program standards and requirements for CCBYS.
  • Comply with the State of Illinois‑mandated reporting law.
  • Complete all required Federal, Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), and Agency Core Curriculum and Mandated Reporter training, meetings, and workshops as required.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field preferred, Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Licensed or license‑eligible (LSW, LPC) preferred.
  • Experience providing services to youth with complex trauma and justice involvement.
  • Familiarity with Restorative Justice, Motivational Interviewing, and culturally responsive clinical approaches.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends and flexible in scheduling.
  • Will be required to transport clients in their own vehicle.
  • Must be able to accept and incorporate constructive feedback.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license with a clear driving record.
  • Documentation verifying current automobile insurance.
