Purpose of PositionEnters new and updated registrations into SVRS system. Answers phones, assists public, assists with sorting and distribution of daily mail. Helps prepare for elections by assisting with candidate filing and provides various election support.
Essential Duties- Enters voter registrations in SVRS System
- Prepares files and related paperwork for registering voters.
- Registers election candidates and receives their financial reports.
- Registers voters in the correct precinct and notifies voters when precincts change.
- Records election information in the database and on the voter’s paper record.
- Maintains absentee book and absentee ballot information in database.
- Collects and certifies voter petitions required to place a candidate on a ballot.
- Receives phone calls and visitors, answers questions or refers to the appropriate department.
- Maintains Website with voter registration and election information.
- Assists Voter Registration Supervisor with development and conducting of Poll Worker Training.
- Manages epoll pad equipment by updating programming, training and assigning disbursement to vote centers.
- Arranges and sets up satellite poll locations.
- Provides general clerical support as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to effectively and tactfully deal with other people
- Ability to operate basic office equipment
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work basic math problems
- Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
- Basic knowledge of general office practices, such as filing, record keeping, phone etiquette, etc.
- Attention to detail
- Must pass Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) proficiency requirements set by the Secretary of State’s Office within a determined time period from hire date.
Incumbent works under established guidelines and procedures. Tasks are fairly routine but require some selection of applicable methods and procedures. Errors in work can cause significant inconvenience to the public or moderate loss of time to the department.
Working RelationshipsWorking relationships are with supervisor, associates in same department, other county departments, courts and the general public for the purpose of communicating factual or procedural information.
Working Conditions and Physical DemandsWork is performed in a standard office environment, which includes sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting and very rare field work.
