This role functions as a bridge between Revenue Cycle operations, IT, and Finance, driving enterprise-wide initiatives that improve financial outcomes, operational efficiency, and system utilization within the Epic platform.

The position operates with a high degree of autonomy, influencing system design, workflow optimization, and prioritization of organizational initiatives. While not responsible for direct reports, this individual will lead complex, high-impact projects and may function in a project manager-like capacity for revenue cycle systems and workflows.

Key Responsibilities Epic-Focused Project Leadership
  • Drive initiatives that impact multiple service lines, departments, and revenue streams across the organization
  • Identify and execute initiatives with measurable financial impact (e.g., revenue lift, cost reduction, cash acceleration)
  • Lead revenue cycle projects involving Epic applications, including system optimization, workflow redesign, and new functionality implementation
  • Manage full project lifecycle: scope, timeline development, build coordination, testing, go‑live support, and post‑implementation optimization
  • Coordinate with Epic IT analysts, operational leaders, and clinical departments to ensure successful project execution
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and executive‑level reporting to support visibility and decision‑making
  • Ensure alignment with Epic best practices and organizational governance

    • Front-end: Scheduling (Cadence), Registration (Prelude), Insurance verification, Authorization workflows
    • Mid‑cycle: Charging, coding workflows, DNFB management (HIM), Charge Router, CDI
    • Back‑end: Billing (Resolute HB/PB), Claims, Payment Posting, Denial Management
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve key performance indicators such as:
    • DNFB days
    • AR days
    • Clean claim rate
    • Denial rate and overturn rate
    • Point‑of‑service collections
Epic Analytics & Reporting
  • Analyze revenue cycle performance using Epic reporting tools (e.g., Reporting Workbench, Radar dashboards, Clarity, Caboodle, Slicer Dicer)
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor financial and operational KPIs
  • Perform root cause analyses on denials, charge lag, claim edits, and reimbursement trends including utilization of AI tools, where necessary.
  • Translate complex Epic data into actionable recommendations for leadership
Epic System Optimization & Build Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Epic analysts to define build requirements, enhancements, and workflow changes
  • Participate in system upgrades, SU releases, and optimization efforts
  • Ensure proper configuration of WQs (work queues), edits, and rules to support efficient workflows
  • Assist in prioritization of Epic change requests through governance committees
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
  • Serve as a liaison between Revenue Cycle, IT (Epic teams), Compliance, and Finance, aligning operational needs with system capabilities
  • Translate business and operational requirements into Epic system design and enhancements, functioning similarly to a product manager for revenue cycle workflows
  • Participate in prioritization and planning of revenue cycle system enhancements, balancing competing stakeholders needs to drive enterprise‑aligned solutions
  • Facilitate cross‑functional meetings, workflow design sessions, and optimization workshops to advance initiatives and support decision‑making
  • Drive accountability across teams without direct supervisory authority to ensure progress and results
  • Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly to senior leadership
Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
  • Ensure Epic workflows align with CMS, payer regulations, and organizational policies
