Job Summary
To provide nursing care that is patient and family centered in an environment that exemplifies best practice and customer service; fosters relationship based care; and maintains the integrity of professional nursing standards. Nursing care guidelines are based on the ANA Code of Ethics, Indiana Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency standards.
Essential Responsibilities- Uses resources and time effectively and efficiently; manages time, focuses on priorities, handles several tasks, considers short‑to‑long‑term activities.
- Attends product and practice change education and applies such to promote non‑salary cost saving.
- Possesses required functional and technical knowledge to do job at high level; makes appropriate patient care assignments based on expertise, acuity, and technical needs.
- Demonstrates ability to enhance workplace and apply new functional skills through evidence‑based practice.
- Exhibits excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co‑workers; displays Hospital core values of Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, Engagement, Empathy, Courage and Loyalty.
- Balances and prioritizes needs of patients, providers, community members and associates; responds to changing customer needs with a positive and collaborative approach.
- Manages customer expectations through patient rounding, timely response, service recovery, and professionalism.
- Understands interdepartmental collaboration for outstanding customer experiences.
- Represents Hospital positively at events; maintains therapeutic environment; reduces noise and appropriate use of electronic devices.
- Places high level of safety focus on patients, guests, associates; uses event management system, reports near misses, participates in proactive processes.
- Applies principles of Just Culture, HIPAA, national safety standards and social media policy.
- Demonstrates leadership, growth, seeks opportunities for certification, academic advancement and shared leadership.
- Inspires, motivates, guides others; encourages cooperation; fosters teamwork and trust; develops leadership through coaching and mentoring.
Skills and Abilities
- Meets Hospital Minimum Performance Standards and responsibilities as outlined in the Associate Handbook, maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintains standard precautions related to patient care.
- Demonstrates nursing mission, vision, values and Nursing Professional Practice Model.
- Participates in nursing research projects/evidence based practice for unit or facility.
- Participates in staff meetings, peer review and other required meetings.
- Follows organizational and regulatory guidelines related to daily responsibilities.
- Current licensure by the Indiana State Board of Nurses Registration and Nursing Education as an active Registered Nurse.
