Senior Accountant Job Description
Position: Senior Accountant
Location:Danville, KY
Reports To: Controller / Accounting Manager
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role will be responsible for supporting the month-end close process, preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of working independently while collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities
- Analyze financial results and investigate variances
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
- Support external audits and provide requested documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Collaborate with operations and department leaders on financial matters
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, construction, real estate, or other relevant industry
