Production Assembler 3 is responsible for day‑to‑day assembly of component pieces into aircraft wheels and brakes. With appropriate training the individual will be required to perform functional testing of finished assemblies and prepare products for shipping to customers. This individual will also be responsible for participation in continuous improvement activities daily and on project teams.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for inspecting, cleaning and assembling aerospace components into final assembly and performing required testing necessary for final product acceptance. The individual will read blueprints, specifications, and work instructions and perform mechanical assembly processes.
DocumentationWill obtain the proper work instructions for assigned jobs and will interact with production planning personnel as required.
Will be responsible for filling out documentation necessary to satisfy all MABS Kentucky government and customer requirements.
Will inspect products and complete documentation as necessary whether manual or using computer transactions.
EquipmentThis individual must be able to operate hydraulic test equipment after appropriate training. Ability to use power hand tools and will operate auxiliary machine tools as required.
SafetyResponsible for working in a safe manner and observing all company procedures regarding environmental, health, and safety matters.
MiscellaneousProficient in operating CNC milling machines to create precision components.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to set up and adjust tooling on production lines.
Experience with hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators for precise measurements.
Skillful in maintaining and performing minor repairs on manufacturing equipment.
Individuals will do some frequent heavy lifting. Will be required to walk throughout the workday.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.
May need to work variable schedules and additional hours as necessary. Must be able to work 8‑hour day shift Monday through Friday with OT as needed.
Job SpecificationsSkilled at routine mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly operations.
Able to operate a variety of hand tools and machinery.
Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as operating/manufacturing instructions, safety rules, policies and procedures.
Good manual dexterity required to work with small parts.
Capable of recognizing and solving typical problems that can occur in own work area; evaluates and selects solutions from established options.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills.
QualificationsEducation:
High School Diploma (HSD) or General Educational Development (GED) required. Additional training or degrees are preferred.
Certifications:
Vocational training, apprenticeships or equivalent experience in related field.
