The Position
As a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Human Services, you will support the Montour County Assistance Office through detailed administrative work. This position gives you the opportunity to contribute to accurate eligibility processing and smooth office operations. You will help staff and clients by managing information, completing key clerical tasks, and maintaining organized records. DescriptionOf Work
This position supports the Income Maintenance Programs by completing clerical tasks that keep records accurate and office operations efficient. The work helps ensure timely eligibility processing and clear communication within the Montour County Assistance Office. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Data Entry: Input information into automated systems and verify that transactions are correct and accepted
- Application Handling: Receive applications, import COMPASS submissions, complete file clearances and register applications
- Inquiry Processing: Review documents, complete transactions and communicate results to meet established deadlines
- Phone Support: Receive calls, relay messages, provide phone coverage and make calls as directed
- Reception Duties: Greet visitors, maintain appointment schedules and provide non technical information as needed
- Mail Distribution: Process, scan and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, faxes and printouts

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Telework:
This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Danville, PA.
The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes). - You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Montour County. If no eligible candidates who live within Montour County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
