Position SummaryGeneral anatomic and clinical pathologist to join a solo hospital employed general pathologist at a CAP accredited private hospital.
Clinical pathology oversight as needed.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- Conduct both gross and microscopic examinations of surgical specimens, biopsies, and cytology samples.
- Assist with supervising and managing laboratory operations across various disciplines including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking, ensuring the highest quality standards and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely pathology reports for treating physicians.
- Consult with other medical professionals, including surgeons, oncologists, and primary care physicians, on test results, differential diagnoses, and appropriate patient treatment plans.
- Close collaboration with hospital administration and personnel to support clinical needs.
- Engage actively in quality control and quality assurance programs within the pathology department to ensure the reliability and accuracy of all laboratory data. Participate in department and hospital meetings as necessary.
- Utilize and oversee advanced diagnostic techniques and equipment, including immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, and laboratory information systems.
- Education: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution. Completion of an accredited residency program in Anatomic and Clinical pathology. Fellowship training is preferred but not required.
- Licensure: Active, unrestricted state medical license or eligibility for licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Certification:
Board Certification or eligibility in Anatomic and clinical Pathology. - Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently.
