Position: AVP Member Business Services (West)

Territory: This position will support the West Branch territory (Shamokin Dam, Sunbury, Montandon, Lewisburg, Mifflinburg, Muncy, & Loyalsock).

Position Type: Full‑time, Exempt.

Role

Calls on prospective and existing clients within the assigned regional territory to originate, underwrite, manage, and grow the Credit Union’s portfolio of member business loans, with the overall objective of maintaining and increasing asset quality; develop new and existing business relationships for both loan and deposit services. This position is eligible for a hybrid work‑from‑home schedule, as approved by management in accordance with the credit union’s Remote Work policy.

Functions & Responsibilities
  • Participates in developing lending and deposit business for the Credit Union (65%): calls on clients to expand existing business; calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the Credit Union's client base; represents the Credit Union at various functions to develop and maintain business relationships; takes applications for commercial loan business; reviews member financial condition and assesses the member’s ability to re‑pay the loan;

    makes underwriting decisions within approval authority; completes or directs completion of all loan documents and closes loans; is responsible for post‑closing file management; assists loan support department to clear any audit findings.
  • Monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high‑quality asset base (20%): maintains up‑to‑date member files; assists members and employees with business loan related questions, including loan modifications and payment issues; manages collection of past‑due loans and liquidation of collateral if necessary.
  • Partners with the VP Member Business Services to maintain effective vendor relationships and identify opportunities to strengthen vendor performance and service delivery (5%).
  • Serves as the primary liaison for member business merchant services, managing relationships, coordinating service delivery, and addressing member needs and escalations (5%).

Performance Measurements
  • Develop strategic goals and targets for new and existing business development and member business relationships under the direction of the VP Member Business Services.
  • Travel regularly to visit potential and existing member business clients, branch locations, and SEGs to ensure service standards.
  • Be a visible presence in local communities through participation in business, community, and charitable organizations and activities.
  • Ensure prompt, efficient, courteous, and professional service to all members; resolve member problems and complaints promptly and fairly.
  • Identify member business loan and deposit clients and service accounts; present products and services, analyze requests, make decisions within authority, or recommend further action.
  • Perform loan services functions: interview applicants, determine collateral needs and payment plans, review, underwrite, process, close loan applications, prepare documentation, schedule appointments, disburse funds, and send notices in compliance with law and policy.
  • Provide support to credit union and CUSO lenders with financial statement analysis, loan documentation, loan underwriting, and clerical tasks.
  • Assist with internal audits and examinations.
  • Train and develop additional member business lending staff as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of economic conditions, state and federal laws related to member business lending, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Monitor and report on competitive financial products from major competitors, identifying opportunities or weaknesses.
  • Provide recommendation and input regarding ALM strategy and liquidity management.
  • Maintain awareness of loan concentration limits and recommend management of limits to the VP Member Business Services.
  • Serve as the SBA loan specialist for the credit union.
  • Maintain eligibility and continuing education requirements necessary to obtain and maintain required licenses for underwriting/analyzing loans and selling related products.
