Job Summary
The Associate BI Developer will gain experience with reporting tools and the process to develop clear, concise, and accurate reports and dashboards. Using knowledge in various Business Intelligence software, data structures, and programming along with critical thinking, the Associate BI Developer, under direct supervision, assists in enabling the organization to make data‑driven decisions by converting data into dashboards and reports that are readily available and easy to interpret.
The Associate BI Developer supports assigned business areas and the required reporting tools. Must be able to demonstrate how to use the BI tools, including reports and self‑service dashboards, to non‑technical audiences. The Associate BI Developer must exhibit initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to inspire trust and confidence to help maintain customer relationships.
- Observes during consultation process and documents project requirements and scope with assistance from more experienced analysts.
- Collaborates with internal partners and organizations in the design and development of reporting solutions and routine analytic studies to support business needs.
- Plans projects and requests completion tasks with assistance from more experienced analysts.
- Provides time and effort estimates based on requirements gathering. Must manage projects with supervision.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of relevant source systems needed to support primary stakeholders and proficiency with related databases/data marts within first year in role. Must become familiar with the various BI software systems used at Geisinger.
- Develops, validates, and executes simple queries. Designs and builds basic reports/dashboards. Performs routine data analysis that answers business questions for internal customers; under supervision of a more senior analyst or supervisor.
- Prepares analysis and reports for presentation to internal customers and stakeholders.
- Integrates basic visualizations into self‑service reports/dashboards, makes minor modifications to more complex dashboards developed by more senior analysts, and offers visualization recommendations to stakeholders based on business goals, requirements, and the intended audience.
- Reports and helps troubleshoot data quality issues when performing data profiling, testing, or validation.
