Position: Registered Nurse Supervisor (2nd Shift) - Danville State Hospital

Job Overview

Responsibilities
  • Team Supervision: Guide professional and nonprofessional nursing staff across multiple care areas
  • Clinical Oversight: Monitor treatment activities and support quality care based on nursing standards
  • Staff Development: Provide training, orientation, and ongoing education to nursing personnel
  • Care Coordination: Communicate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to maintain continuity of care
  • Safety Management: Maintain a safe therapeutic environment and respond to emergencies when needed
  • Record Keeping: Prepare reports, maintain documentation, and complete evaluations without delay
Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (2:30 PM to 11:00 PM) on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as assigned, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
    • The 2nd shift receives $1.25 per hour shift differential.
  • Overtime:
    As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) or
  • Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.
Special Requirements
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
