Geisinger’s Cancer Institute seeks an Advanced Practitioner to join the Palliative Medicine team role supports inpatient palliative care needs in a clinical environment and is responsible for assessing patients, establishing presumptive diagnoses, and managing treatment plans.
Responsibilities- Assess and establish presumptive diagnoses and implement treatment plans for the patient population.
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing and consult as appropriate, prescribing evidence‑based medical therapy.
- Prescribe, adjust, or discontinue medications or therapies as clinically warranted.
- Evaluate and report to the collaborating physician any circumstances or test results that present significant risk to patient health or well-being.
- Perform procedures within the scope of NP practice.
- Communicate with the collaborating physician, patient, PCP, and referring staff via telephone or other means.
- Advocate for patients, providing safe, ethical care and health education in an understandable language.
- Interpret and follow policies and guidelines to define procedures and meet goals and deadlines.
- Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and job‑specific obligations.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing with certification as a Nurse Practitioner (required).
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Certified Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
- Basic Life Support Certification (any recognized issuing body).
- Master’s Degree – Nurse Practitioner (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified Nurse Practitioner – American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
- Licensed Registered Nurse – State of Pennsylvania (RN)
