Hours:
36 (3 x 12-hour shifts).
Full-time Inpatient Registered Nurse for the Children’s Services with a minimum hiring rate of $41.50 per hour, increased rates for experienced individuals, and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Offer includes $21,500 lump-sum hiring incentive and up to $7,500 relocation assistance for eligible candidates.

- Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout care continuum.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care per unit standards, including education, family needs, and discharge planning.
- Provide direct patient care: treatments, medications, diagnostic studies per policy and procedure.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise care plans accordingly.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary team; proactively resolve patient needs.
- Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures concerning equipment care.
- Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding evidence-based practice utilization.
- Actively engage as a team member toward unit and organizational goals; accountable for unit and system metrics.
- Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and activities to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
- Work in a clinical environment; comply with all policies and procedures.
FTE = 0.9 (36 hours weekly). Shift schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts. Day/Night rotation (7am-7pm, 7pm-7am). Rotating weekend and holiday shifts. Units:
Pediatric medical/surgical units at Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital providing family-centered care to infants, toddlers, school-age, and adolescent patients.
- Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (required).
- Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) – of Pennsylvania.
- Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification – American Heart Association (AHA).
