Location & ScheduleLocation:
Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) – Unit BP7, a 26‑bed advanced acute care unit focused on organ transplant. Shift: Rotation. Availability:
Minimum 24 hours per 4‑week schedule, including at least 8 hours on a weekend (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) or holiday/alternate shift. Worker type:

- Assess, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient and family needs.
- Promote adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve highest level of care, safety, and satisfaction.
- Exhibit compassionate care during patient‑nurse interactions.
- Coordinate patient care and staff interactions.
- Ensure best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
- Complete assessments established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families.
- Formulate, coordinate, and provide plan of care, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning.
- Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies per policy and procedure.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise plan of care based on patient response.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and interdisciplinary team members, proactively resolving and facilitating patient needs.
- Problem‑solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
- Participate in unit‑based decision‑making regarding utilization of evidence‑based practice.
- Actively participate as a team member working toward unit and organizational goals and accountable for unit‑specific metrics.
- Engage in patient quality and safety education programs and activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality.
Unit BP7 is a 26‑bed advanced acute care unit with a focus on organ transplant, serving a diverse adult patient population across Transplant, General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Gynecology, and Hospitalist Medicine services. BP7 nurses also provide peritoneal dialysis (PD) exchanges and support PD patients throughout the hospital. This is a flex position with minimum 24 hours of availability per 4‑week schedule and requires at least 8 hours on a weekend or holiday.
Qualifications- Graduate from Specialty Training Program‑Nursing (required).
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania ( of Pennsylvania).
- Basic Life Support Certification (Default Issuing Body).
