Position: RN - Registered Nurse - NEW Advanced Acute Care Medical Unit

Position Summary

Geisinger Medical Center (GMC) is hiring a full-time inpatient RN for Night shift. The role offers a hiring incentive up to $24,000 and a minimum hourly rate of $41.50, with additional shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend duties. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Schedule

36 hours per week. Night shift, every other weekend and every other holiday. Self-scheduling is available to allow for flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet the needs of patients.
  • Promote adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve the highest level of patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Provide compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
  • Coordinate patient care and interact with staff to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure the best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
  • Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care, including education and discharge planning, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response.
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
  • Problem-solve, troubleshoot equipment, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding evidence-based practice utilization.
  • Actively participate as a team member working toward unit and organizational goals, and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
  • Participate in quality and safety education programs and activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Pennsylvania.
  • BLS certification.
  • Graduated from a specialty training program in nursing (required).
  • Experience in inpatient RN setting, preferably on an acute care unit.
  • Clinical skills, effective communication, interpersonal communication, organizational skills, preceptor skills, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work nights, and on alternate weekends and holidays.
