THE POSITION:
The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is actively looking to hire seasonal custodial workers to join their team at Codorus State Park. These positions involve essential duties related to the upkeep and maintenance of park facilities and the surrounding grounds, ensuring that the environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors. Responsibilities include routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing various areas within the park buildings, as well as maintaining the outdoor spaces to enhance the natural beauty of the park.

- Oversee the comprehensive upkeep of general housekeeping and building maintenance across facilities including restrooms, offices, overnight accommodations, and the swimming pool complex.
- Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, showers, floors, and walls; perform deep cleaning and use pressure washers, scrubbers, and other specialized tools.
- Execute minor routine repairs such as replacing light bulbs and tightening fixtures.
- Maintain grounds by mowing grass, trimming weeds, and collecting litter with riding mowers, hand mowers, and weed eaters.
- Load and transport materials using utility vehicles, dump trucks, or pickup trucks, and clean grills and sweep paved areas.
- Assist in maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and equipment used throughout the park; may be required to paint or stain park buildings, signs, and gates.
- Ensure safe and proper use of all equipment and tools, adhering to safety protocols and wearing protective gear.
- Attend mandatory safety meetings and training sessions.
- Engage with park visitors, providing information and assistance in a friendly manner.
- Complete documentation such as daily records, automotive mileage sheets, fuel dispensing logs, and leave slips, using a two‑way radio as required.
- This is a seasonal full‑time position with no health‑care benefits. The season runs from approximately May 2026 until October 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment May 2027.
- Work schedule varies: 37.5 hours/week, 7‑day operation. Shift is typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lunch 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM; works weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed.
- Telework: there is no option to telework in this position.
