Security Officer - Part Time​/Rotation

Job Summary

This security officer is responsible for maintaining safety and security in an assigned area of Geisinger Medical Center (GMC).

Key duties include conducting routine patrols on foot and by vehicle, enforcing hospital rules, responding to emergencies, and providing escort and assistance services.

• Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols, enforce hospital rules, identify unauthorized persons or hazards.
• Direct firefighting activities, inspect buildings for fire and safety hazards, enforce fire and safety rules, and participate in fire drills.
• Direct traffic on hospital property, enforce traffic and parking regulations, assist patients, visitors, and employees with vehicle issues.
• Provide escort and emergent delivery services to campus facilities.
• Participate in orientation of new employees and students in fire, safety, and security policies; train in firefighting techniques and equipment use.
• Lock all doors after business hours and unlock at the start of business hours.
• Operate security technology equipment, including personal computers, CCTV, fire alarm system, access control, and security alarm systems.
• Perform emergency and hazardous material response services in accordance with training and policy.
• Execute duties related to site emergency management plans and the Hospital Emergency Incident Command System.
• Setup duties for the Emergency Operations Center.
• Investigate employee, visitor, and patient complaints; cooperate with local police and authorities.
• Complete detailed reports on incidents, thefts, and losses.
• Respond to requests for assistance involving patients; assist Life Flight with unloading patients and equipment.
• Coordinate and perform prisoner escort duties consistent with protocol.
• Assist and direct patients and visitors and provide assistance to handicapped, wheelchair, and elderly persons.
• Ensure compliance with all job‑specific obligations and organizational policies and procedures.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred.
• Physical ability to perform essential job functions.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work shift rotation; part‑time, 20 hours per week.
