As an Income Maintenance Caseworker with the Department of Human Services, you will assist applicants in understanding and qualifying for important benefit programs at the Montour County Assistance Office. Responsibilities- Eligibility Review
:
Evaluate applications and determine eligibility for programs such as financial assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, LIHEAP, Nursing Home Care, and Waivers. - Customer Interviews
:
Conduct phone and in-person interviews to gather information and understand customer circumstances. - Policy Application
:
Interpret and apply state and federal regulations to ensure accurate case decisions. - Data Entry
:
Enter information into automated systems and perform manual calculations for case processing. - Case Documentation
:
Write clear and thorough case comments to record changes and document decisions. - Deadline Management
:
Complete all assigned work within required time frames and established procedures.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch (may change based on operational needs).
- Overtime and travel as operationally necessary.
- Telework
:
Position may be eligible for part‑time telework. Detailed schedule discussed during the interview. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, the option is to report to the headquarters office in Danville, PA. Ability is subject to change. - Salary
:
Starting annual salary $53,008.00 (before taxes). - Free parking.
- Four years of experience in interviewing or work requiring analysis and interpretation of data;
or a bachelor’s degree;
or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree are eligible. - You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Hiring preference for candidates who live within Montour County. If none apply, candidates from other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment requires submission of criminal history reports.
- You must pass a background investigation.
- Position will have access to Federal Tax Information and is subject to IRS Publication 1075, which requires an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
