Job Summary
Join the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services as a Social Worker 2 and help young people build stronger futures. This role guides youth through important transitions and supports their success after leaving the facility, focusing on positive change and long‑term stability for every resident.
Responsibilities- Transitional Planning: develop plans that support youth as they prepare to return to their communities.
- Safety Oversight: maintain a secure environment through supervision and preventive action.
- Case Coordination: work with families, probation officers, and facility staff to support aftercare goals.
- Resource Networking: build connections with community programs that help youth access important services.
- Documentation Duties: record assessments, updates, and reports that outline resident progress.
- Counseling Support: provide individual and group guidance to help residents build positive habits.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours:
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch (may change). Overtime and travel as necessary. - Telework: not available.
- Starting salary: $60,538 annually.
- FREE parking.
- Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) with continuous commonwealth employment since 2008.
- Or two years experience plus a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare.
- Or two years direct public or private social work service experience plus a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare.
- A master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
- Must be willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and commute to Danville, PA.
- Must meet PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Conditional offer will require medical examination, drug screening, and satisfactory criminal history clearance (PA State Police, PA Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprint).
