THE POSITION

As a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee with the Columbia-Montour-Snyder-Union (CMSU) County Drug & Alcohol Services, you will start a career focused on helping clients move toward healthier lives. This role provides structured training and daily guidance to help you grow your skills and confidence. You will learn how to support clients, understand their needs, and work as part of a caring team.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps clients by learning how to complete assessments, monitor treatment progress, and support case management activities. It introduces key skills through formal training and supervised experience. As a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

  • Client Assessment: Learn assessment practices to gather information and identify service needs
  • Care Level Review: Assist in determining the level of care and orient clients to program procedures
  • Plan Development: Develop writing and analysis skills to update service plans
  • Follow-Up Support: Conduct client follow-ups and build skills in advocacy
  • Treatment Monitoring: Participate in monitoring treatment progress and utilization review activities
  • Team Participation: Join staffing meetings, treatment teaming, and supervision sessions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the opportunity to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or a related field; or a Bachelor's Degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
