Job Description & How to Apply Below

About the Role

As Dispatch & Inventory Control Lead, you own daily logistics execution and the problem‑solving that keeps it profitable and reliable.

You coordinate drivers, equipment, farmers, and customers — but more importantly, you negotiate solutions when reality doesn’t match the plan. That includes rate discussions, backhaul opportunities, re‑routing, prioritization, and tradeoffs that protect service and margin.

You are trusted to act. When things get tense, unclear, or messy, leadership expects you to resolve it, not to escalte it.

What You’ll Do Logistics Control & Negotiation
  • Plan and adjust daily routes, equipment, and backhauls
  • Negotiate spot rates, backhauls, and last‑minute capacity when needed
  • Work through tough situations with drivers, farmers, and partners
  • Balance service, cost, and relationships under pressure
  • Make real‑time decisions to protect on‑time delivery and margin
Dispatch & Execution
  • Release the daily plan for ~10 drivers
  • Track loads, ETAs, and exceptions in real time
  • Communicate clearly and decisively when plans change
  • Hold drivers and partners accountable to expectations
Inventory Awareness & Dock Support
  • Maintain visibility into finished‑goods inventory and staging
  • Ensure pick lists, counts, and labels are accurate
  • Step into the cooler/dock when needed to keep loads moving
  • (this is support, not the primary focus)
Authority & Ownership
  • Full authority to make routing, load, and real‑time logistics decisions
  • Expected to negotiate and resolve issues without escalation
  • Own daily execution outcomes — service, cost, and reliability
What You Bring
  • 3+ years in logistics, dispatch, transportation coordination, or operations
  • Proven experience negotiating rates, capacity, or tough operational tradeoffs
  • Strong judgment under pressure — you know when to push and when to bend
  • Clear, confident communicator across drivers, partners, and leadership
  • Operational literacy — you understand how docks, inventory, and trucks actually work
  • Willingness to step into the operation when needed, without living there
Schedule
  • Core hours:
    Monday–Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Flexibility required when operations demand decisions outside those hours
What Success Looks Like
  • Service issues are resolved quickly and professionally
  • Rates, backhauls, and capacity are handled with discipline
  • Drivers and partners trust your word and follow your direction
  • Inventory mistakes are rare and caught early
  • Leadership stays out of day‑to‑day fire drills
What It’s Not
  • You need constant direction or approval to make decisions
  • You avoid negotiation, tough conversations, or conflict
  • You freeze when capacity tightens or schedules collapse
  • You want a purely physical role or a purely desk role
  • You prefer speed over accuracy and long‑term relationships
