Schedule
- Monday to Friday (some Saturdays may be required)
- Start time:
Anywhere from 12am (midnight) to 8am, with most routes between 4am‑6am (dispatch time) - Average annual pay: $90,000 to $110,000 per year. Drivers are paid by cases, miles, stops and dispatch fee with a progression daily minimum
Food and food service delivery drivers play a critical role in the country’s food supply chain, ensuring products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition while representing the company with professionalism.
Primary Responsibilities- Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co‑workers professionally, answering questions accurately and promptly.
- Functions as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
- Performs all required safety checks (pre/post trip), inspecting the tractor/trailer to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards; reports any safety issues or required repairs.
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies; immediately reports safety hazards and ensures freight is properly loaded and secured.
- Performs count checks of items and verifies customer invoices for loaded products.
- Completes all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Moves the tractor to the loading dock, attaches the preloaded trailer as needed, and drives to and delivers orders according to the predetermined route schedule.
- Unloads products from the trailer, transports items to designated customer storage areas, and conducts damage control checks.
- Verifies delivery of items with the customer and obtains proper signatures.
- Collects money (cash or checks) when required, loads customer returns onto the trailer, and secures trailer doors.
- Ensures that the tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured throughout the route.
- Unloads damaged goods and customer returns, brings them to the driver check‑in for necessary paperwork, and removes trash from trailers as required.
- Completes a daily record of hours of service and enters it in the log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clear and clean as required.
- At the end of the shift, secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 12+ months of commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL‑A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or has a valid current DOT Health Card and/or can secure a new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheelers, lift gates, or other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight ranging from 10‑35 pounds and up to 60‑90 pounds, depending on location
Average annual pay ranges from $90,000 to $110,000. Drivers are compensated based on cases, miles, stops, and a dispatch fee, with a progression daily minimum.
