Title: Fiscal Technician

Agency: Virginia Department of Health

Location: Danville

Hiring Range: $41,813 - $50,859

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts. The Pittsylvania-Danville Health District is seeking a qualified candidate for a Fiscal Technician role.

Core Responsibilities
  • Billing & Accounts Receivable: classify, proof, and post transactions to journals and ledgers; prepare financial reports and summaries.
  • Voucher Processing: process vouchers, reconcile accounts, prepare and process payrolls.
  • Records Maintenance: maintain control accounts, maintain fiscal information, take trial balances, reconcile accounts, and maintain records.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assisting the agency in emergencies and adjusting work hours, location, and job duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping standards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word).
  • Experience with accounting or similar batch type systems.
  • Strong organizational, billing, customer service, and data entry skills.
  • Ability to prepare, file, and reconcile data.
  • Experience processing vouchers.
Additional Considerations
  • Working knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting System (Cardinal).
  • Knowledge of state accounting policies and procedures.
  • A valid State Driver's License.
