We are looking for a CMT Technician to help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect contractors’ work and perform basic field soil and concrete tests under the direction of other F&R technicians or engineering professionals. All inspections and test data are entered on smartphones/tablets in the field for immediate transmission to Project Managers for review.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concrete.
  • Prepare detailed field reports with all relevant test results and observations.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results.
  • Evaluate site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and provide recommendations.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 12+ months of relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior field testing experience; construction experience preferred.
  • Maintenance of ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficiency in applying basic mathematical formulas and concepts for field and laboratory calculations.
  • Strong multitasking skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Some travel required.
  • Willingness to pass F&R’s pre‑employment screening (background investigation, drug screening, and driving record).
  • Physical ability to continuously stand and walk throughout the day; lift, carry, push, pull up to 70 lbs. regularly; work outside with frequent temperature changes; bend, squat, kneel, climb as needed; tolerate dust, fumes; and drive to and from work sites.
