Construction Materials Testing Field Technician II

As a Constitutive Materials Testing Technician (CMT), you will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect the contractor's work and perform basic field soil and concrete tests under the direction of F&R technicians or engineering professionals. All inspections and test data are entered in real‑time on smart phones/tablets for immediate transmission to Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities- Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry and concrete
- Prepare detailed field reports with relevant test results and inspections
- Conduct basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports
- Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering staff regarding construction issues
- Complete any additional duties as assigned
- 12+ months of relevant experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Some construction experience required; prior field testing preferred
- Maintenance of ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, and perform field and laboratory calculations
- Multi‑task and meet deadlines
- Work independently and with cross‑functional teams to achieve goals
- Excellent attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Travel required
- Pass pre‑employment screening (background, drug, driving record)
- Stand and walk throughout the day; lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 lbs.
- Work outside in varying temperatures; bend, squat, kneel, climb; work in dust and fumes
