Job Description
Danville Community College, established in 1936 and now part of the Virginia Community College System, offers comprehensive programs across disciplines such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, hospitality, and culinary arts. Workforce Services is recruiting Part‑Time Trainers to support our mission of enhancing local workforce skills.

- Develop and deliver engaging, hands‑on training programs for students in maintenance and repair skills.
- Instruct students on the use of tools, equipment, and techniques used in maintenance work.
- Provide practical experience through hands‑on projects and simulations.
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and update curriculum materials.
- Ensure that the curriculum aligns with industry standards and best practices.
- Stay up to date on the latest technologies and techniques in the maintenance field.
Workforce training postings are pool postings, meaning that when there is a need, the divisions pull from the applicants that have applied to this position. Teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs. The Workforce training faculty contract contains no guarantee of continued employment.

KSA’s /Required Qualifications
KSA’s:
- Advanced knowledge, training, and/or experience in the discipline(s) of interest.
- Minimum of 2 years related industry work experience.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Ability to work with and embrace a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, administration, and business partners.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to teaching excellence with an enthusiasm for teaching and commitment to the community college mission.
- Ability and willingness to identify, recruit and meet with companies within the service region to learn business needs and develop training programs.
- Willingness to learn concepts, equipment and software, as it relates to the course(s) and program(s) assigned.
- Dedication to high quality customer service.
- Ability to utilize campus resources including learning management systems.
- Ability to analyze, exercise discretion, and use sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Ability to use technology to enhance instruction and to effectively teach in classrooms and labs.
Certifications required for specialized area of expertise will vary for different disciplines.
Additional Considerations- Experience teaching and/or training adult learners in industry.
Work schedule varies based on class schedule(s). Commonwealth of Virginia part‑time employees are limited to working 1,500 hours per agency per year, which is calculated as the 365‑day period from May 1st through April 30th each year. It is the employee and supervisor’s responsibility to manage and maintain the work schedule to ensure the limited 1,500 hours are not exceeded within the May 1 – April 30 365‑day period.
