Job Description GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK

Under the general supervision of the Director of Federal Title Programs and the direct supervision of the assigned building principal, the Title I Family, Academic, and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E) Specialist will provide support services to families in Title I schools. The F.A.C.E Specialist will build mutually trusting relationships, act as an advocate for families, and provide support services as needed. The Specialist will assist families in determining needs and in identifying and creating opportunities for families to identify attainable goals while regularly following up on progress.

The F.A.C.E Specialist is responsible for family and community engagement, including monthly meetings, training sessions, and establishing a site-based Parent and Family Advisory Committee. The Specialist will collaboratively plan and coordinate Title I communications and information services to all stakeholders; assist in the implementation, maintenance, and assessment of assigned school’s Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plan and activities; organize regular site-based educational workshops for families;

provide teachers with support by arranging family intervention and academic assistance; recruit, train, and facilitate on-site volunteering opportunities to families and community members; co-plan with teachers to provide resources aligned with the curriculum framework and pacing; initiate and respond to parent phone calls, emails, and written correspondence related to family engagement and/or each school’s Title I Family Resource Center; participate in early release conferences, assisting families with the understanding of progress reports, diagnostic/progress monitoring data, and report cards;

calculate and keep accurate data of parent and family engagement; align family engagement activities with school improvement goals and curriculum pacing; work in collaboration with homeless liaison to expedite immediate enrollment of homeless students; submit all required Title I documentation to Title I office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Meets regularly with the assigned school’s Principal and the Director for Federal Programs and Instructional Support to ensure that the direction set for parent and family engagement efforts is consistent with Title I guidelines, the school’s Title I plan, and the strategic plan of the School Division and the Board.
  • Analyzes data to identify strategies consistent with each school’s needs.
  • Co-plans with teachers to provide resources aligned with the curriculum framework and pacing.
  • Provides multicultural outreach, community engagement, and family services that support family self-sufficiency.
  • Facilitates ongoing meaningful communication between the school and the home and conducts outreach activities to recruit prospective families.
  • Complies with all local, state, and federal guidelines, regulations, and requirements in regard to parent and family engagement programming funding by Title I, Part

    A.
  • Interprets ESSA requirements related to school activities/outreach programs that support family engagement; supports and works with Social Workers, Counselors, and community agencies that can contribute resources to assist families as needed.
  • Works with families and teachers in improving the achievement level of students by assisting parents and volunteers in locating learning activities; disseminates information regarding family engagement goals and objectives, resources, and services to support needs.
