Job Description
Danville Community College seeks an Industrial Trainer to establish and maintain a range of training programs in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical technology, and related fields. The trainer will collaborate with industry partners to develop company‑specific training, work closely with workforce agencies and community organizations, and support the Workforce Services division’s mission at the Regional Center for Advanced Technology and Training.
Responsibilities- Teach trades classes and mentor workforce instructors to ensure quality instruction and student completion.
- Train other instructors to expand program options and improve schedule timing to meet industry needs.
- Engage with workforce agencies and community organizations to identify training opportunities in the service region.
- Collaborate with academic deans and faculty to build partnerships with academic programs.
- Apply knowledge of technology, industry standards, and best practices to students from diverse backgrounds.
- Develop program standards and recommend policy changes.
- Create and present program materials.
- Work with management, community resources, and programmatic staff to discuss recommendations or provide advice on complex projects.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and conferences to support recruitment, community relations, and marketing; travel throughout the region as needed.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to promote the college mission and stay current with industry standards and business needs.
- Advanced knowledge and/or industry licensure or credential (e.g., Journeyman License).
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical technology, building trades, or related fields.
- Commitment to pursuing NCCER and SACA coursework within 12 months of hire, with the goal of obtaining those credentials.
- Dedication to high‑quality customer service.
- Advanced interpersonal skills to persuasively interact with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and employers.
- Ability and willingness to market the program to potential students of all ages and backgrounds.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with industry standards and business needs.
- Ability to identify, recruit, and meet with companies within the service region to develop training programs.
- Commitment to teaching excellence and enthusiasm for teaching.
- Proficiency in teaching in classrooms and labs and using technology to enhance instruction.
- Strong computer skills and aptitude for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, college software, and virtual communication tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective time‑management.
- Analytical ability to solve human, technical, and administrative problems.
- Experience developing, implementing, and communicating college policies and procedures, with familiarity in college academic requirements.
- Problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Monitoring, mentoring, and evaluation skills.
- Experience reviewing, interpreting, managing a budget, and using data for decision‑making.
- Experience teaching or training adult learners in a technical trades industry.
- NCCER and/or SACA certification.
- Experience developing, growing, or expanding training programs or curriculum.
