Job Description

Danville Community College (DCC) was founded in 1936 as Danville Textile School and has evolved through various phases to become the comprehensive community college it is today. DCC now offers a wide range of academic programs and community outreach initiatives.

DCC is seeking an energetic, innovative, and student‑focused Workforce Career Coach/Enrollment Navigator to work with students interested in noncredit, high‑demand credentials associated with the Workforce Credential Grant (WCG) Program.

Job Responsibilities
  • Recruiting students of all ages and backgrounds
  • Career and educational planning
  • Program admissions
  • Job placement
  • Key data entry to Workforce Educational System (WES) non‑credit software management system
  • Support student persistence and program completion by implementing retention strategies
  • Assist students in overcoming barriers to success and connect them to supportive services in the region, including One‑Stop Career Centers as appropriate
  • Assist with completion of non‑credit financial aid and scholarship applications, eligibility determinations for programs and funding, and other duties as assigned
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to advance the college mission and initiatives
Work Schedule

8 am - 5 pm. This is a face‑to‑face position, and flexibility is required to meet business needs.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

  • Recruitment experience
  • Coaching ability
  • Development of individualized action plans
  • Job search, resume writing, interview skills, and professionalism
  • Communication and network building with a variety of workforce partners and stakeholders, including employers and funding agencies
  • Work with employers for job referrals, work experience, or placement
  • Collaborate with administration, faculty, staff, and students
  • Knowledge of workforce development programs (e.g., WIOA, RVHI) and credentials
  • Labor market information analysis
  • Student resources, including financial aid (e.g., WCG, FANTIC) and supportive services
  • Listening and helping skills
Additional Considerations
  • Knowledge of, training, or experience in counseling, human resources, social services, or a related field
  • Pursue Virginia Career Coach certification within 12 months of hire, with the goal of obtaining the credential
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with all stakeholders, including the public, community colleges, workforce partners, and employers
