Position Overview

Part‑time face‑to‑face teaching assignment at Danville Community College, anticipated start August 2026.

Work schedule:

Monday‑Wednesday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and other times as needed. The role involves teaching, curriculum development, program coordination, and accreditation support for the Early Childhood Education program.

Responsibilities
  • Program Coordination – Serve as faculty lead, assist the dean with planning, scheduling, and coordination of ECE courses, facilitate communication among ECE adjunct instructors, coordinate program meetings, and support strategic initiatives.
  • NAEYC Accreditation Support – Maintain accreditation compliance, coordinate assessment data collection, support preparation of NAEYC annual reports and self‑study, ensure curriculum aligns with NAEYC standards, and maintain required records.
  • Curriculum Leadership and Program Improvement – Lead collaborative efforts to develop, revise, and maintain ECE curriculum, ensure alignment with NAEYC and state standards, coordinate learning‑outcome assessment, and recommend course updates.
  • Field Placement and Clinical Experiences – Coordinate student practicum and field placements, maintain partnerships with local childcare centers, Head Start programs, and schools, ensure placements meet NAEYC clinical requirements, and monitor student progress.
  • Student Advising and Recruitment – Advise students on program requirements, career pathways, and transfer opportunities; assist with credential and licensure pathways; participate in recruitment, orientation, and retention initiatives.
  • Faculty Collaboration and Support – Act as resource for adjunct and full‑time faculty, share curriculum resources, assist with onboarding, and coordinate faculty participation in assessment and accreditation activities.
  • Community and Workforce Partnerships – Develop and maintain relationships with early childhood providers and agencies, collaborate on workforce development, and represent the program at community events.
  • Program Data and Reporting – Assist with collection and analysis of program data, prepare documentation for institutional and accreditation reviews.
  • Teaching Responsibilities – Teach assigned courses, maintain knowledge of recent theory and policy, incorporate evidence‑based strategies, teach day, night, and online courses as needed, complete Canvas and RSI training, and engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Professional Engagement – Maintain involvement in early childhood organizations, stay current on licensing regulations and NAEYC standards, and participate in college service and committees.
  • Other duties as assigned – May include emergency support as directed by the governor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 18 completed graduate hours in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Discretion and sound judgment in decision making.
  • Ability to communicate with students and community members.
  • Adaptability, time management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Personnel management skills with emphasis on instructional development.
  • Independent and team‑oriented work capability.
  • Monitoring, mentoring, and evaluating skills.
  • Working knowledge of campus systems, including learning management systems.
  • Use of technology to enhance instruction.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and community college mission.
  • Travel for professional development as required.
