Tire Test Engineer

The Tire Test Engineer is responsible for conducting tire force and moment evaluations using GCAPS’ globally exclusive Flat Trac LTRe system and Static Fixture. This role involves preparing, executing, and validating test programs while collaborating with a diverse range of customers, including motorsports teams, leading automotive manufacturers, and tire and sensor developers. The Tire Test Engineer plays a key role in delivering precise and reliable data through comprehensive testing, analysis, and technical expertise.

The position is located in Alton, VA and requires full‑time, on‑site attendance and the use of safety/protective equipment. The position is subject to an alternate work schedule (shift work) to balance sponsored research testing needs with availability of test equipment.

• Bachelor's degree in automotive systems engineering or other quantitative discipline
• Demonstrated experience in testing/laboratory setting (1 year)
• Mechanical aptitude
• Microsoft Office (VBA a plus)
• Full Time On‑site Attendance Required
• Background in signal processing and calibration (4 years)
• Prior development experience with MATLAB or other computational tools (4 years)
• Problem solving related to mechanical systems (4 years)
• Problem solving related to controls systems (4 years)
• Management of engineering projects (4 years)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and team skills
• Strong engineering integration skills
• Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and fabrication techniques
• Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
• Experience in industrial or heavy equipment environments (4 years)
• Steel‑toe shoes required by OSHA in workplaces with hazards such as falling or rolling heavy objects, sharp objects piercing the sole, electrical shock risks, or exposure to crushing or corrosive substances; footwear must be compliant with ANSI Z41.1-1991 and ASTM F1677 when required
• Criminal conviction check required

Salary: $90,592 - $95,000

Hours per week: 40
